Ecological Threat, Peace, and COVID-19: A Conversation with Steve Killelea of IEP

Increases in population, the degradation of natural resources and climate change are increasing the occurrence of ecological events.

These events will result in heightened poverty, an increased likelihood of conflict and mass migration. Understanding which countries and areas of the world are exposed to the most severe ecological threats is vital if we wish to lessen the likelihood of conflict and mass migration.

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused tragic loss of life and deep economic disruption. It continues to highlight the growing inequality in developed nations and the inward focus of most countries.

The presentation will focus on IEP’s Ecological Threat Register, which forecasts ecological threats out to 2050 and how Positive Peace can assist post-pandemic recovery.
