The Rotary Positive Peace Activator Program is training an international network of facilitators in IEP’s Positive Peace framework. Participants will gain knowledge and practical techniques to follow-on as leaders of community-based workshops with Rotary-affiliated groups.

Based on more than a decade of peace data analysis, IEP’s Positive Peace research builds on the well-known Global Peace Index and demonstrates what is working in peaceful societies, showing that building sustainable peace requires more than securing an end to violence, and must include the development of a supportive social system.

The Positive Peace framework consists of eight pillars or socio-economic factors empirically linked to peace within countries, including good governance, sound business environment and respecting the rights of others.

Rotary Positive Peace Activator Program alumni be equipped to implement the Positive Peace framework within communities and broader society.

The program builds on Rotary’s current Areas of Focus that are already investing in Positive Peace, including the organisation’s peacebuilding and conflict prevention programs, and disease prevention and treatment, water, sanitation, health, education and community economic development work.

Since 2017, the Rotary International and IEP’s strategic partnership has worked to spread Positive Peace around the world, including facilitating community-based workshops in Colombia and Mexico, and launching an online short course – the Positive Peace Academy.

The USA and Canada Activator Cohort will meet for training in Ontario, California, USA January 14-16, 2020. Applications are open until September 12, 2019.
