Global Peace Index 2020 webinar with MEP Lukas Mandl
MEP Lukas Mandl and the Institute for Economics & Peace are pleased to invite you to the launch webinar of the Global Peace Index 2020 on Tuesday, June 16 at 15.00 CEST
Produced by the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP), the Global Peace Index (GPI) report presents one of the most comprehensive data-driven analysis on trends in peace, its economic value, and how to develop peaceful societies.
The report also outlines a study on the evolution of civil unrest over the past decade and IEP’s Ecological Threat Register (ETR) report. The ETR illustrates the intersection between ecological risk and societal risk, which can impact on the economic performance and peace. In addition to the findings from the GPI 2020, the webinar will include an overview of the COVID-19 & Peace report.
In this report, IEP outlines the global impact of the pandemic, resilience and coping capabilities of countries, and changes in socio-economic systems and in patterns of conflict and violence. It also examines key aspects of the post-pandemic world and comments on forward-looking initiatives to reshape the global economy.
A keynote speech will be delivered by MEP Lukas Mandl, Member of the Group of the European People’s Party (Christian Democrats). Mr. Mandl is the Chair of the Delegation for Relations with the Korean Peninsula and Vice-Chair of the Subcommittee on Security and Defence.
The GPI 2020 and COVID-19 & Peace reports will be presented by Mr. Serge Stroobants, Director of Europe, Middle East and North Africa at the Institute for Economics & Peace.
A reflection on the impact of gender inequality on peace and closing remarks will be delivered by Ms. Amanda Rohde, Senior Programme Manager for the Migration & Integration and Asia programme at Friends of Europe.
The discussion and Q&A session will be moderated by Ms. Lea Perekrests, Deputy Director of Europe, Middle East and North Africa at the Institute for Economics & Peace.
