Environmental Science + Peace’ webinar series with IEP and NewGen Peacebuilders
Webinar Series on the Ecological Threat Register and the NewGen Peacebuilders’ Environmental-Peace Curriculum
The Ecological Threat Register (ETR), produced by the Institute for Economics and Peace, synthesizes and visualizes data on environmental indicators that can impact levels of violent conflict. The Register shows the challenges ecological threats and climate change pose to global development and peacefulness.
In recognition of the International Day of Peace (Sept. 21) and Peacebuilding Action Week, NewGen Peacebuilders (NGP) and Footprint App, Inc. are introducing “Environmental Science + peace” to US high school teachers and students, making the link between environmental science and peacebuilding. Content development involved NGP alumni committed to environmental peacebuilding. Materials align with Unit 5 (Land and Water Use) of the Advanced Placement Environmental Science (APES) course. “Environmental Science + peace” features the Pillars of Peace framework and Ecological Threat Register (ETR) produced by the Institute for Economics & Peace.
This webinar series event will discuss key findings from this year’s inaugural Ecological Threat Register and present the new peacebuilding curriculum in order to capture support from educators, peacebuilders, and climate advocates at the national level.
